Depositions

Danes in a Deposition Setting
We'd be happy to come out to your law firm or company to discuss the U.S. deposition process from the interpreter’s perspective.
If you are preparing to depose a Scandinavian witness or if you are about to be deposed, we believe you will find our booklet Depositions for Danes in the U.S. Legal System: How to Give Testimony for Use in a U.S. Trial or Arbitration Case very useful (in Danish: Udenretlige vidneforklaringer i det amerikanske retssystem: Sådan afgives vidneforklaring i amerikanske rets- eller voldgiftssager).
Written by Christian Schoenberg, Nils Eskestad (both of Tollund, Inc.) and the renowned legal scholar Professor dr. jur. Erik Werlauff (Aalborg University), the booklet is laid out as parallel Danish-English versions. Among other things, it contains general information and concrete pointers about being deposed in the United States, how to work with interpreters, and the U.S. Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Evidence in translation.
The 130-page booklet is free, but we encourage readers to make a contribution to the Danish American Chamber of Commerce of New York.
If you wish to receive a copy, please contact either Nils (at ne@tollund.com) or Christian (at cs@tollund.com).
