| A WINNER OF THE Metropolitan Opera Competition’s New York District, Jessica Grigg was a 2001 Finalist in the National Opera Association Competition, a finalist in the 1994 NATS competition and a winner of the 1996 Operafest NH!Competition.
This season, Jessica sang the title role in Orfeo with Five Words in a Line in New York. She also performed with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra Hatchshell Concert Series in Boston and with Opera Providence at WaterFire in Rhode Island. Jessica debuted with New Jersey’s Verismo Opera Company as Maddalena in Rigoletto and recorded Dag Gabrielsen’s opera All Three Acts of a Sad Play for New York City Opera’s VOX 2011 Festival. Jessica also debuted with Cape Cod Opera in a concert series as Carmen and she will perform The Old Lady in their 2012 production of Candide. Last winter Jessica performed in a recital series in New York’s Renee Weiler Concert Hall and she joined Five Words in a Line in a concert of new music by composers Charles Fussell and Stefan Weisman in NYC’s Greenwich House Music Hall.
Ms. Grigg performed the role of Carmen in a program of French Opera with Julius Rudel and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. This followed her debut with Opera Illinois as Maddalena in their production of Rigoletto and her debut with Teatro Grattacielo as Anna in Alfano’s Risurezzione at Alice Tully Hall. She was the lead role of Charity Royall in Steven Paulus’ opera Summer in it’s New York City Premiere with the Center for Contemporary Opera and performed the Mozart Requiem with Camerata New York. At the request of the composer, Jessica premiered Jorge Martin's song cycle “A Cuban in Vermont” at Boston’s Berklee College of Music.
